CORE CLASS

A "core class" as defined by the State of Alaska is a course of study in:
  • English
  • Math
  • Social Studies
  • Science
  • Technology
  • World Languages

LESSONS AT SPORTS OR RECREATIONAL FACILITIES

Specific changes in the State of Alaska regulations governing correspondence programs have focused on sports and recreational facilities. The most important thing to know is that structured lessons must be provided at these facilities in order for the cost to be reimbursed. CyberLynx can pay for these services only if the following criteria are met:
  • The class must be specified on the Personal Education Planner
  • The fee is for the student's instructional time only
  • Sports and recreational facilities must be on the Approved Vendor List.

CyberLynx is not authorized to pay for passes, yearly, monthly or seasonal memberships or punch cards for health clubs, ski resorts, etc.

PRIVATE TUTORING FOR CLASSES

  • CyberLynx can pay for private tutoring only if the following criteria are met:
  • The class must be specified on the Personal Education Planner
  • A private, religious, or sectarian educational institution does not provide the instruction
  • Tutors/Instructors must be on our Approved Vendor List.

(NOTE: If a family desires to use a tutor or facility that is not on the Approved Vendor List, please contact

your Parent Advisor to request a Vendor Packet).

All private tutoring is limited to $199.99 per class, per full-time student, per school year. Parents may pay for instruction and submit receipts for reimbursement or a price quote may be submitted prior to an instructor providing services if payment is to be made by CyberLynx. This will reserve the funds in the family account in the name of the vendor, who may then submit an invoice after services are provided.

NOTE: If a student takes a class which CyberLynx cannot fund and the parent chooses to fund the activities on their own (by paying for private lessons, club memberships, punch cards, etc.), the student will receive credit on his/her transcript assuming all requirements for a home-designed course (approved by the NCSD School Board) are fullfilled and approved by the Parent Advisor.

If your question was not answered above, please e-mail us! We will respond shortly.

Thank you for your interest in CyberLynx.
